Chico's FAS, Inc. Appoints Stephen E. Watson to Serve on its Board of Directors

FORT MYERS, Fla., Nov. 23, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ --

Chico's FAS, Inc. (NYSE: CHS) today announced that it has appointed Stephen E. Watson to its Board of Directors, effective November 18, 2010, increasing the total number of Board seats to nine. Mr. Watson was also appointed to the Board's Audit Committee and Compensation and Benefits Committee.

Mr. Watson brings to the Board nearly 40 years of executive and director experience in the retail industry. From 1973 through 1996, Mr. Watson held various executive officer positions with Dayton Hudson Corporation, including Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dayton Hudson Department Stores Co. and President of Dayton Hudson Corporation. From 1997 until his retirement in 2002, Mr. Watson was President and Chief Executive Officer of Gander Mountain Company, a privately held retailer for outdoor sports and recreation activities.

In addition to serving as a director of Chico's, Mr. Watson is currently also a director of Regis Corp. and Kohl's Corporation, where he serves as Chairman of the Audit and the Nominating & Governance committees. From 1997 through December 2005, Mr. Watson was a director of ShopKo Stores, Inc., an operator of general merchandise stores. From 2004 through May 2007, Mr. Watson was a director of Smart & Final, Inc., an operator of grocery stores. He also served on the boards of Norwest Bank from 1990 to 1996, Target Corporation from 1991 to 1996, Retek Inc. from November 1999 to 2004, and Eddie Bauer Holdings, Inc. from 2005 to 2009.
