FORT MYERS, Fla., June 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Chico's FAS, Inc.
(NYSE: CHS) today reported that its May sales results for the four-week period
ended May 31, 2008, decreased 8.8% to $141.4 million from $155.0 million
reported for the four-week period ended June 2, 2007. Comparable store sales
decreased 16.9% for the four-week period ended May 31, 2008 compared to the
same four-week period last year ending June 2, 2007.

For the seventeen-week period ended May 31, 2008, total sales decreased
9.4% to $551.0 million from $608.1 million reported for the seventeen-week
period ended June 2, 2007. Comparable store sales decreased 17.4% for the
seventeen-week period ended May 31, 2008 compared to the seventeen-week period
last year ending June 2, 2007.
The Company is a specialty retailer of private branded, sophisticated,
casual-to-dressy clothing, intimates, complementary accessories, and other
non-clothing gift items. The Company operates 1,063 women's specialty stores,
including stores in 49 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin
Islands and Puerto Rico operating under the Chico's, White House | Black
Market and Soma Intimates names. The Company has 614 Chico's front-line
stores, 38 Chico's outlet stores, 321 White House | Black Market front-line
stores, 19 White House | Black Market outlet stores, 70 Soma Intimates front-
line stores and 1 Soma Intimates outlet store.
